Description
We present organic lovage root essential oil for perfumery, obtained from the plant with the botanical name Levisticum officinale. The product is offered under the name Lovage root organic essential oil for perfumery. Its liquid appears homogeneous, and the colour ranges between yellow-green and dark brown. The colour goes together with a warm and soft scent, whose earthy and woody tones finish with a sweet-spicy note at the very end. The dark tones of the liquid originate from the pigment-rich roots of the plant. The roots come from plantations in Bulgaria with organic cultivation. The plant species belongs to the family Apiaceae, whose representatives accumulate their volatile compounds mainly in the underground parts of their well-developed root system. The underground parts release the oil through steam distillation, and the method carries over only the volatile constituents and preserves the purity of the scent in the finished product. The purity is also confirmed by the fully organic composition, in which preservatives and colourants are absent. Organic cultivation maintains this composition, since it excludes the introduction of synthetic substances into the plantations. The volatile constituents of the root oil are arranged around the group of alkylphthalides, among which ligustilide remains the leading representative of the entire fraction. The alkylphthalides carry the depth of the earthy tone, together with the monoterpenes pinene, limonene and terpinolene, which are present in a considerably smaller share of the fraction. The monoterpenes lend a light freshness to the overall olfactory profile, while the phthalide base retains its warmth. The lovage root oil remains liquid and keeps its soft olfactory character.

Storage

Store organic lovage root essential oil in a dark, cool and dry place, away from direct sunlight and heat sources. After opening, limit the amount of air in the packaging, and when the contents decrease, pour the remainder into a smaller, clean and dry bottle.
